I recently acquired an early Vietnam era field jacket, along with obsolete specialist 7 shoulder patches. I was wondering if it would be offensive if I were to sew the patches on the jacket and wear it in public. I have a deep respect for all who have and are serving in the armed forces, and I do not wish to offend anyone.
Thank you and God bless our troops.
Is it offensive for a civilian to wear obsolete military patches on an obsolete military jacket?

Wearing obsolete military patches on an obsolete military jacket is generally not considered offensive, especially if the patches or jacket are no longer in active use. However, it’s important to be mindful of the context and avoid representing yourself as military personnel. Many people wear vintage military jackets for fashion or historical interest, but showing respect for military traditions and symbols is key.
At mjackets, we always encourage customers to appreciate the history behind military-style jackets while wearing them respectfully.
