we are both interns and after a week we became friends and after two more weeks he started to like me a bit more and now he wants to date. i don’t want to hurt his feelings and have no friendship and awkwardness for 9 more weeks and if i do except and it doesn’t work out he might be mad and foul talking of me for a while and it doesn’t make things better that he is either related to or friends with the higher authorities please help me! thank you

If you like him don't be afraid to take the chance because you can't regret not trying. And if it doesn't work out and he does talk bad about you then he wasn't much of a friend to begin with. But if you don't like him then let him know so he doesn't waste his time trying to make you like him.
Friendship can be classified into number of categories. If some one like your attitude, then they will try to communicate. If there are more common interests among you they will become good friends. This total thing is non physical and soul related. Suppose if somebody try to have communication with opposite sex, with an attitude to win the body alone, the person will positively leave you and the hate you, if his desire is fufilled. So you can talk to him freely and boldly about your friendship and the limits. if his desire is more than your limit, never extend your boundaries, just for the sake of friendship. Such friendship should be curtailed at the earliest.
